The day we met

BEST DAY EVER>>>
We just settled into the hotel with little man. Right now he is asleep on my chest. We have not decided on a name officially we are leaning towards one, but just can't say "that's it" yet. We do know his middle name will be Daniel. That is the middle name his birth mother (whom I will refer to as S from now on) gave him, and we had always planned on keeping one name S gave him.

This is by far the most surreal thing I have ever been through. We walked into the office and saw him first thing the SW(social worker) handed him right to us, she also picked up my camera and took pictures, I have not seen those yet. We were there maybe an hr asking questions and signing paperwork stating we would take care of him. Then she said "OK, that's it do you know where you are going?" I was like really we get to take him with us?

We tried to get any and all info we could about his birth family, it is very limited but we hope to find out more in the future.

We have a court date for May 30th, that is when mom must stand in front of a judge and terminate her rights and state that she does not want him to be a member of the tribe. The SW is the only one that has met and spent a small amount of time with S. She believes that S is comfortable in her decision. Everything the SW told us today, made me feel good, and believe that S will make us parents!!! We are on cloud 9. If that goes as planed they can start the paperwork that we may go home, they estimate that will take 7-10days to complete that paperwork.

Regardless of what happens we have decided we will enjoy every second we get to spend with this perfect baby. He is the most gorgeous baby ever. Many of you have seen pictures, but those of you that haven't... he is covered in hair!!!! The first thing I did after feeding him when we got to the hotel was strip him naked and look at every bit of him. He has HUGE hands with really long fingers, and beautiful skin. I can't remember what I wrote before, but his birthday was May 5th. He will be a week old tom. He was born an 6lbs 15oz, 19in long. The SW picked him up from the hospital yesterday and he stayed with a foster family last night. Now he is with us!

Until paperwork is complete we are allowed to do anything as long as we stay in the state of AZ. We have decided we will take advantage of that and are planing a few road trips/outings already. We believe top of the list is grand canyon.  BTW it is stinking HOT here!!! so sunny and ridiculously dry heat. So far we love it here, and think we are going to enjoy being here as a home away from home for awhile.

Some crazy things we found out today.... My awesome family set us up with a hotel that is about 45min outside of Phoenix we are so grateful that that did this for us! The crazy part is this is the same city little man was born in!!! So ironic right? Second crazy thing that makes me smile is that me and S have the same birthday! What are the chances of that?!?!?!
This just feels right, like he has always been with us.

I'm sure there is so much I am leaving out, but I will have plenty of time to blog the next several weeks while we hang out here.

Thanks for all the amazing support. Thanks you to each and everyone of you for all the thoughts and prayers, baby supplies, hotel room, and car rental and getting us set up for awhile. Keep the prayers coming... and don't forget about S, while this is an extremely exciting time for us, I can not image how difficult it is for her so keep her in your prayers as well.

FYI we are two hours behind you guys!
*****forgot to say, he smells AMAZING*****

  1. I am so excited for all 3 of you. I received the first picture through a text on my phone as I was driving down the interstate. I started crying with joy and could not believe how much I already love him, but I know that's because I love the two of you so much.

I will keep praying daily, actually non-stop, until it is all finalized. I know our family can be a little crazy (in the best possible ways), but he could not have been blessed to find a family that would love him more.

I can't wait to see you all!

    Love,
    Aunt Kellye
